Silence

It appears that it has been a short while since I wrote something here. There is no excuse for it. There just isn't much to say at the moment.

The school holidays are now in their twilight and we are left wondering where on earth the time has gone. I feel that I have managed to achieve very little. I now have hair, flowers, nails and make-up organised for the wedding, along with a hen-night date (or three) and theme and a fabulous cake. We have invites written and envelopes arriving tomorrow, table centres created, bridesmaids clothed and sparkled and various other bits and pieces done. Nick has arranged evening entertainment and now needs to phone the vicar and the flower people from the church. Other than that, little has been achieved.

This rest of the holiday sees a suit fitting, dress fitting, stag night (for lovely Wayne), gatecrashing Friday night in The Smugglers and embarkation on a mini-adventure for a few days next week.

Then we are left with just 7 weeks to get everything else sorted, with a probable Ofsted inspection thrown in for good measure.

Have you noticed how many teengage shootings and stabbings there have been this Summer? What is going on? It disturbs me.

Sometimes

Sometimes it is those unexpected days that are the best.

Nick and I decided to make the most of the sunshine yesterday afternoon and wander for a 'quick drink' at the Bandstand on the seafront. Inevitably it ended up being slightly more than a quick drink.

We sat and soaked up the sun as the craft market attracted more pedestrian through traffic, chatted and watched the people go by. We then met Tony who had been seated alone for more than a few pints before joining us and informing us that he was, in fact, from Romford. We talked lots about what had changed in the many years since I have been there. His parents had moved here it seems, while he was away for his usual 6 months in India and so knew very few, if any people at all. We were glad we entertained him, even if only for a little while.

Nick and I then headed off to grab some dinner, encorporating a quick detour through the arcades. (This is something we never do unless we have visited the Bandstand first) We failed to win an odd looking toy and so continued chomping on our fattening chips and wandered in the direction of The Druids. By this time we were both somewhat merry so catching up with Lisa and Petra was all the more fun! We gave up on our drinks in the end and strolled home in the warmth of the night air.

Today has been quiet as a consequence with Nick, the cats and I watching a nice slow moving film and the second half of Ajax v Arsenal. All is restful and quiet in the house. A lovely weekend really :)

Regime

So as I have said for a short while, the pre-wedding excercise regime began again this week. I never thought I would be the type of person to invest in fitness DVDs but the thought of going to the gym depresses me so much that I thought I would try it this way instead. So off I trotted to Woolworths and with limited choice I opted for this

I can also imagine that for some people this will cause much mirth! But when I am super fit then I will remind you all of your scorn! :D

I have however renamed it:
'Janice Battersby's Evil Workout made only slighly better by a nice looking man'
because it is, as I say, evil.

Everything hurt when I did it and the nice man telling me 'it's a beautiful thing!' when I had a beetroot head did not really help.

Everything hurts now I have stopped doing it too!

Blimey. The photos better look good after all of this!
