Sang-froid

Not only do I now have a stinking cold in addition to trying to recover from last week's slightly irritating sick bug, but Ashley has a cold too.

Cat sneezes are very amusing. Those who know Ashley will be aware that he does not like being laughed at so I am trying to be sympathetic to his sniffles. Like most lovely babies, when he is poorly, simply nothing will do but a hug from his lovely mother. Like most lovely babies, it is in the middle of the night that he requires them. Poor, poor Nik. Trying to sleep in the presence of a sneezing, coughing, sniffing Speckledgoat is enough for anyone to contend with. Coping with that and a sneezing, sniffing, purring cat the size of an elephant is quite another. As I say, poor, poor Nik.

Another get well message, this time to my Uncle Colin and a very happy birthday to Brad. Funny how some dates stick in your mind and not others isn't it.

My eyelashes hurt :(

Outrage

Warning - Rant Approaching

Have you seen it?

The advert for the coco-pops straws?

Grrr

Ngggg

*clenches fists, turns red and begins to shake a little.

As if children were not already lacking in table manners. When I was a child you held your knife and fork properly, one in each hand. You cut your food into bite sized pieces. You did not ignore the fact that you had a knife at all and tear at your food with a fork, shovelling it in. Or worse still, eat everything like a toffee apple, chewing and gnawing on whatever you have impaled with your fork. You did not drink from bowls, you used a spoon. You most certainly would not suck up your milk through a straw when you had finished your cereal! How on earth have Coco-pops got away with that one! Chocolate straws to suck up the milk with! I am horrified! I am so disgusted I can scarcely believe they are real!

Please, for the sake of common decency - DO NOT buy these things and please teach your children proper table manners at last.

Rant over - for now.

Get well soon Mr Kris, let us know if you need anything x

Poorly

I am on the sofa today. I have given up trying to take my poorly self to bed as I have to keep getting up and making a dash for the bathroom. One of the downsides of teaching is all the nasties the children carry. A slightly irritating sickness bug this time. I know I tell all you kids to share but you can keep your germs and nasties to yourself in future.

The weekend has been hectic as usual. A fine evening in the company of Brigid and then Jools was had on friday. Watching Arsenal put in a dismal performance against lowly Everton followed by a trip into Canterbury to make use of the Monsoon sale to cheer me up, got Saturday off to a start. I invested a small fortune (but what a saving!) in two gorgeous dresses for a wedding in the summer, only to find I now have to return them both as there is no green permitted on the big day. That's hardly fair on us gingers is it? How are we supposed to look stunning in something other than green?! Everyone knows gingers have to wear green! *sigh Any advice on other colours for gingers to wear would be gratefully received.

A very suprise and welcome invitation out for dinner came on Satruday night. We realised that in almost a year, we had never been out for dinner. More of that I say! Thanks to Steve and Donna for an extremely pleasant evening. Hope Donna's head was ok Sunday!

Sunday was spent wrapping overly large boxes, visiting Tesco and attending another birthday tea. This was followed by a late film with Sharon and Wayne during which, as usual, I managed a little shut eye.

In amongst all this excitement I was very saddened by the plight of the Thames Whale. Predictable I know, but poor thing...and all those people who criticised the rescue crew for trying to save it made me so cross. Even if we fail, isn't it better to try to help? Grrr.

S'okay

It is ok. Panic over. The goats have returned.

In addition to this wonderous news...Utd lose, Spurs lose and I am at Highbury to witness us put 7 past Boro.

:D

Hurrah.

Absent

If anyone finds a herd of white and brown goats somewhere on the M2 let me know. I have misplaced them.

Farrago

As I glance out of the window here, in the tree sits a lone red bean bag. Around it, slowly closing in are two little hopping brown birds and a squirrel. I am no twitcher and therefore can not add to your reading enjoyment by informing you what sort of bird they are, suffice to say they are small, brown and hoppy. The squirrel however, I can say unequivocally is a grey one. I did not think birds were supposed to be around this time of year. Perhaps they are lost.

(watches)

I had prepared myself for the battle to commence, (of which the squirrel with its superior tail would undoubtedly have won- fluffy is always the winner) but alas, they have in fact ignored the bean bag after all and gone on their way. Wimps.

Jollification

...Sorry for the delay. It has been a busy couple of weeks and it took some time to recover from the supermarket ordeal.

Thank you to everyone who entertained us over the festive period and beyond. I wont be tiresome and share the details of the break as when the decorations are down and boxed away, the rest should be also. Now just to get on with paying for it! (It would be good if someone told all those people who insist on following in American footsteps and putting tacky decorations all over the outside of their houses, that they should be gone by now, not that they should have been there at all. Broad Oak take note!)

It was a delight to finally meet and share a few beverages with the lovely Mr Kris. I very much hope we can catch up with you again soon. Let's hope we can do the same with Keith and Jen and Helen and Paul in the coming weeks!

I will also avoid the inevitable New Year spiel, other than to say, I don't make resolutions as being tired, poor and bored, January is,in my opinion, a daft time to do it. I will just say that I feel great things are to happen for many people close to me this year. I wish them every happiness and success.

Boring bits done for another year...just remember karma is a very powerful thing...

Oh and...Happy birthday to Mary - 30 today...yes THIS year Anthony ;) It is not SO bad Mary, once you get used to saying it.
