Amendment

In addition to the previous blog from today, I have remembered something else...

What a wonderful word 'beastly' is.
Go on, say it now, in a Stephen Fry voice

'How awfully beastly of you'

Go on, say it aloud...

It is a very satisfying word, don't you think?

Secrets

Shhh...have you seen? Don't tell anyone in case they sell out and I can't get one...

The Wizard of Oz: Collectors Edition

Three discs, additional printed material! How cool is that? I am most excited, the anticipation is almost too much!

IMDb says it was released today, I assume that means in America (boo hiss) Play have it on record...but no release date as yet.

Look at the excitement on his face too!

My little car will soon be home from the garage. He is not a bad chap really. Desipte his overheating issue he is quite well for almost 130,000 miles! MOT today... Wiper blade, lightbulb and one tyre are all. Not bad really is it? Bless him.

Spiffing

Guest writer Susan here. Jolly good day to you. One is most pleased to be in attendence with you lovely chaps this afternoon.

Lovely weather isnt it what?

Can't stop, have to take the dogs out for a jolly long run across the country estate before Peter returns from a fun day at the office. Now where are my green wellies and waxed jacket I wonder...

Upbeat

I am usually very upbeat on these pages. Aware of my audience and therefore careful what I say. Today though I have just had enough.

If it could go wrong, then it did go wrong.

All in all a pretty rubbish day.

Points to take away:
My journey to work is rubbish in the rain
Roadworks are rubbish
I love my mum
Teachers are human beings with real human feelings
There are times when even I just need a hug and comforting words

Never mind though. It will soon be over and at the dawn of a new day, the little speckledgoat will regain her sunshine once again.

Dedication

...and so a new chapter in the Arsenal Record Book begins. Good old Thierry Henry graciously took Ian Wright's all time top goalscoring record in Prague last night. Well done that man. If anyone had to take it away, then it had to be dear Thierry. 186 and counting... Shame it was not at Highbury on Saturday though :(

The weather is being most unpredictable this week, with beautiful Autumnal sunshine interspersed with rain, cloud and even fog. The week has been peppered with the saddest of news which has had it's inevitable impact on mood and motivation. I just wish there was more to say and do.

The sun is now peering it's way through the clouds and the tree outside my window shines green and gold. Blue skies attempt to break through and greet the sparrows that hop peacefully around the playground. They are blissfully unaware that in a matter of minutes, the children will file out of the dinner hall and interrupt their playtime.

Oh, and after our school visit to Howlett's Wild Animal Park yesterday, Amethyst Class are now the proud adoptive parents of Rukwa the Black Rhino :) We liked the rhinos.

Gewgaw

What a marvellous word that is don't you think? It certainly needs adding to the list of wonderful words. In case you don't know what it means it is: 'A trinket, a bauble, a showy trifle'

It has been one of those weeks whereby a gewgaw is greatly required, just something shiny in amongst the subfusc days.

It isn't that I have been bored. Far from it. Courses, meetings, finding places without a map, actually some teaching tucked in somewhere too, have all served to keep me amused. It is just that nothing seems shiny this week. Nothing is glittering and sparkly. Even though the world is turning ginger around me (becoming Autumnal to the American audience) there seems to be little of a glow to things.

Congratulations to the lovely Keith and beautiful Jen on their move. It is about time you got the luck! :)

Bored now off to find something else to do...like murder the piano tuner...

Autumnal

First of all apologies to all those who have noticed and commented on the absence of one Speckledgoat for a few weeks. Server issues I am informed. These things happen, no harm done and normal (& upgraded) service is (thanks Anthony) restored once more.

I probably have a lot to fill the gaps with but in all honesty, sitting here cosied up after a pretty stressful day, I can remember nothing :)

I noticed the first real Autumnal flurry of leaves fall over the car this morning, The trees turning gold and red and yellow and the misty rain descending. The only time of year where being a redhead is *best* of all.

I am sure I will think of something more to add as the evening progresses. Welcome back :)
