Hair
I just had my hair cut. I don't like having people's attention on me so this is usually something of an ordeal for me. I also dislike like hairdresser small talk as it is too hard:
'Going on holiday this year?'
'No, can't afford it - you?'
'Yeah we went to Iybifa [sic], ever been?
'No.'
'Oh. Been anywhere nice lately?'
'Erm...No. We went to the Druids the other day, does that count?'
'Got kids?'
'No.'
'Oh.'
Silence
'Erm, your hair is a really lovely colour isn't it?'
*sigh
Today however, it was a more pleasurable experience. The hairdresser Jane was not a skinny two tone haired snobbish stick insect like they usually are but a rounded, sweet, freckly girl who made no attempt to engage me in small talk, who was SO polite I wanted to hug her and who cut my hair exactly as I asked, smiled, made no comment on my gingerness and sent me on my way with her most sincere wishes for a very pleasant weekend. What a delight!
Let's hope someone notices my shorter hair this time :(
