Childhood #3
How to clean the gerbil cage:
Gerbils can make quite a mess kicking their sawdust out of the cage. Here is a handy tip to save cleaning time:
Wait until the gerbils are downstairs in their cage then hoover out the middle layer.
Health and safety notice: Make sure they do not come up their ladder at the wrong moment. If they do disappear up the hoover tube then remove them, put Germaline on their cuts and place them back in their newly hoovered cage. They will be fine.
In addition to this remind little sisters not to leave Sindy/Barbie dolls near the hamster cage. They will drag her in, eat her hair and choke. Rotten brothers will bring up how little sister killed the hamster for many years.

HOW CUTE IS HE/SHE - I miss my little Thunder... although it has to be said I in no way miss tidying up after him, or the whole 'just sit there, we cool, stop running off, no, REALLY, you dont want to jump off of there' etc.. Whats the difference between a ham-star and a gerbil? That little dude looks like a long haired hamstar - like the one you used to have at uni (who got his hair all mussed up in the wheel)?

That is a hamster and yes, much like my poor departed Bob. Gerbils are more mouse like and have tails. Either way they are soft and fluffy and lovely, with little sniffly noses and tiny, tiny paws!

Hello!
Do you know, although it's been a while I've been thinking of you recently Kary and I don't know why. Think I must miss you!
Funny thing as I logged on to your site tonight after months of not visiting....Paul and I bought a ginger hamster just two weeks ago, looks spookily like your hamster picture!
How odd is that?
Anyway, hope you are well.
Love H
